So here’s the lowdown. At Thornbury Family Dental, we believe in comprehensive care and maintenance of total oral well-being.

Our comprehensive new patient examination is a one hour session. We’ll have the dentist and staff gather all necessary information to create a strategic blueprint of what we can do to help you. This extra time is to allow our whole team to work together with you to achieve your ultimate dental goals, and at no extra cost to the usual check-up fees – because no one likes to pay extra fees for anything right? So we are not going to charge them.

“That sounds great… but what
else are you going to do for me?”

We thought you might ask. We’ll begin with photos of your mouth and teeth, any needed X-rays, a thorough examination of your gums, teeth, and soft tissues including an oral cancer check. (Yep, we told you we were thorough and we’ve got your back).

Together, we will be able to form an individualised plan to restore and/or maintain your smile. Our dentists will discuss and present the plan thoroughly with you to make sure it meets your needs and expectations. Just a heads up: In order for us to provide each and every one of our patients with the most thorough care plan, we do not unusually carry out treatments in our initial comprehensive check-up appointment, including a scale & clean.

So… what happens next?

On most occasions we’ll come up with a plan for you on the spot by the end of our 1-hour appointment together. Sometimes, we might like you so much that we invite you back for another consultation depending on the complexity of your goals… completely free of charge. It’s designed for you to ask any further questions and to fully understand your treatment plan and options. Plus, in case things are a little complicated, you are more than welcome to bring in any family members who may assist you in better understanding your options.

What happens when you need a problem fixed… like yesterday?

Oh we’ve all been there. When you have a problem inside your mouth that you need fixed, pronto.

We understand that if you have any immediate issues, we will make it our top priority to address them. We will work together to help you to have a better understanding about why the issue may have arisen, and together, we will endeavour to guide you on how you can prevent future concerns by implementing an individualised plan.

Your dentist will be happy to walk you through each step before proceeding with any treatment. Or, if you would prefer, you can simply lie back, cast your attention to the television placed in the ceiling above and let us get to work to fix the problem.
